ORIGIN OF BURUNDI MUTAMBU COFFEE
Bashirwabigoye Geroffe and his wife are one of a group of farmers who supply coffee to the Migoti Coffee company that is processed and then will go on to produce individual lots, including this lot from Mutambu HIll. Geroffe started farming at age 27 and was taught by his father how to farm coffee as a way of generating income and he passed the knowledge onto his wife. They have 350 coffee trees as well as other food crops. Every year Migoti Coffee Co. purchases all of their harvest at a price far higher than what they could achieve if they processed the coffee themselves. This is possible because of controlling quality and creating an international demand for Burundi coffee. Through coffee they have avoided poverty. They are able to buy clothes for their children, goats and chickens so everyone is fed. For many years they struggled to have children but have been blessed two with two new additions to their family the eldest of which has started school this year (2022).

Absolutely love this Burundi Mutambu Coffee! Love it so much I order it by 500g bags. Iron & Fire are such good roasters and delivery is always excellent and not overpriced.

I have never bought half a kilo of a single coffee before but I’m about to with this one. I find it absolutely delicious — a revelation in how fruity, light and refreshing coffee can be. That ‘dry rhubarb’ finish! I doubted that it was possible but it really does have a distinct, lip smackingly tart, rhubarb finish.

I’d say that this coffee absolutely blew my mind. To me it has black tea notes. For the quality, the price is fantastic.

This is a super fruity coffee. Beautiful, bright, bold flavours. Works really nice as a filter coffee and I prefer this coffee black to really taste all the lovely fruity notes.
