This is one of our favourite specialty coffees, and it finds its roots in the fertile soils of Colombia’s revered Huila region. These ethically sourced beans are roasted to give a full-bodied mouth feel with rich chocolate and caramel undertones and a pleasant cherry finish. A real ‘go-to’ coffee for all coffee lovers.
An intense espresso, beautifully sweet stretched a little with water and makes a perfect flat white! Dive into the world of Colombian Jazz coffee, where every cup is a journey to Colombia’s coffee heartlands.
Sage espresso machine recipe: 20g in, 45g out. 26 seconds with an 8-second pre-infuse.
Iron & Fire’s popular Colombian Jazz blend consists of Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee beans originating from groups of smallholders primarily based within the Huila region in the South West of Colombia. This area is also home to Colombia’s second-highest peak: the Nevado del Huila volcano. This region has all the attributes that are needed to produce exceptional coffee; volcanic soils, high altitude, plenty of rainfall, and forests that provide shade. Traditional farming methods are still used to produce this world-renowned high-quality coffee.
We have roasted the Colombian Jazz coffee beans to bring the chocolate and caramel notes through, and with careful roasting, we have managed to maintain the amazing fruit finish. This is a complex roast that will reward careful extraction. It is good 4 days after roasting but hits its best 10 to 14 days after roasting as the balance of all the flavour notes align, and will keep very well.
Farm: Smallholders in the Huila region
Altitude: 1200 – 2000 masl
Location: Huila, Colombia
Preparation: Washed
Variety: Caturra, Typica, Bourbon
Origin of Colombian Coffee Beans
Colombian coffee is renowned for its exquisite taste and high quality. Its origins can be traced back to the 17th century when Jesuit priests brought the first coffee seeds to the country. The first documented evidence of coffee in Colombia dates back to 1730, and by the early 19th century, coffee was being grown commercially in the country.
The geographical conditions of Colombia with its fertile volcanic soil, reliable rainfall, and steady temperature, provide the perfect environment for coffee cultivation. The unique climatic conditions result in coffee beans with a balanced acidity and a rich, full-bodied flavour, which is why Colombian coffee is sought after worldwide.
In the early 20th century, the Colombian government began promoting coffee cultivation as a way to boost the nation’s economy. This led to the establishment of the National Federation of Coffee Growers in 1927, which has been instrumental in promoting Colombian coffee on a global scale. Today, Colombia is the world’s third largest producer of coffee, and its coffee is considered some of the best in the world.

STEPHEN Morris –
There’s a back story to my love of this coffee. I worked in Shrewsbury until I retired in 2018. I went to the same cafe everyday and loved the coffee. After retirement I struggled to find the same taste until I visited another establishment near home and WOW there it was. They told me who their supplier was and, ironically, I then discover that they were based in the same town I worked in for years! I went a trip back over to Shrewsbury and stocked up but as it’s 38 miles from home I now subscribe. I just love the flavour of this coffee, it’s so unique with it’s chocolate and cherry undetones. I recently visited Italy and thought I would have the best espresso ever but I was dissapointed and couldn’t wait to get home to drink some Columbian Jazz! Fresh beans now arrive every month.

Seriously good coffee. Big fan of a straight forward Colombian smooth medium strength coffee and this hits the spot. Really great quality. Best I’ve had and I’ll be back for more. Thank you 🙂

Usually prefer an acidic coffee bean but tried this as the flavour is lovely. Had to order more and make this a regular for me!
Torin Carey –
Tried a few of the coffees, all great but this one is a regular order

I can’t decide between the Jazz and the House. Both excellent.

Initially tried this coffee at Naissance Cafe, Glansevern, it was love at first sip!!! (Excellent cafe by the way).
At home the beans make a cup that is very similar to the cafe, we have tried others only to find that at home the taste is totally different to what we had tried. We are ready to order again soon, it will definitely be ordered from Iron and Fire and will be this Columbian Jazz and probably we’ll try another variety.

I first tried this coffee at the Cricketers on the Green restuarant in Pirbright, Surrey. I had to have 2 expressos one after the other as I was cautivated by the body, taste and aroma of this coffee. I can’t get enough of it. totally recommended.
John Greenwood –
Like other reviewers, this is my favourite Iron & Fire coffee.
I first tasted it at a mobile coffee outlet at Lichfield Market and bought a bag there and then.
The delivery is fast and the beans are always within a few days of roasting, which cannot be said of many rival suppliers.
Keep up the good work!
